Pork Sinigang

Ingredients

  • 1 kg pork (belly, ribs, or shoulder), cut into chunks
  • 8 cups water
  • 1 medium onion, quartered
  • 2 medium tomatoes, quartered
  • 1 pack Knorr Sinigang sa Sampalok Mix Gabi(Taro)
  • 1 cup gabi (taro), peeled and cut into chunks
  • 2 long green chili peppers (siling haba)
  • 1 cup sitaw (string beans), cut into 2-inch lengths
  • 1 medium daikon radish (labanos), sliced
  • 2 cups kangkong (water spinach)
  • Optional: 1–2 tbsp fish sauce (patis) for extra saltiness

Instructions

1. Boil the Pork
  1. In a large pot, add pork, water, onion, and tomatoes.
  2. Bring to a boil and skim off any scum.
  3. Simmer for 30–40 minutes or until pork is tender.
2. Add Gabi(Taro)

Add the gabi(taro) chunks and simmer for 10 minutes until slightly softened.

    3. Add the Sinigang Mix
    1. Stir in the Knorr Sinigang sa Sampalok Mix Gabi(Taro).
    2. Taste and adjust saltiness with fish sauce if desired.
    4. Add Vegetables
    1. Add long chili peppers, string beans, and daikon radish.
    2. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until vegetables are tender but not mushy.
    3. Add kangkong(water spinach) last and simmer for 1–2 minutes until wilted.
    5. Serve

    Serve hot with steamed rice and enjoy the classic tangy, hearty Filipino soup.
