Ingredients
- 1 kg pork (belly, ribs, or shoulder), cut into chunks
- 8 cups water
- 1 medium onion, quartered
- 2 medium tomatoes, quartered
- 1 pack Knorr Sinigang sa Sampalok Mix Gabi(Taro)
- 1 cup gabi (taro), peeled and cut into chunks
- 2 long green chili peppers (siling haba)
- 1 cup sitaw (string beans), cut into 2-inch lengths
- 1 medium daikon radish (labanos), sliced
- 2 cups kangkong (water spinach)
- Optional: 1–2 tbsp fish sauce (patis) for extra saltiness
Instructions
1. Boil the Pork
- In a large pot, add pork, water, onion, and tomatoes.
- Bring to a boil and skim off any scum.
- Simmer for 30–40 minutes or until pork is tender.
2. Add Gabi(Taro)
Add the gabi(taro) chunks and simmer for 10 minutes until slightly softened.
3. Add the Sinigang Mix
- Stir in the Knorr Sinigang sa Sampalok Mix Gabi(Taro).
- Taste and adjust saltiness with fish sauce if desired.
4. Add Vegetables
- Add long chili peppers, string beans, and daikon radish.
- Simmer for 5–7 minutes until vegetables are tender but not mushy.
- Add kangkong(water spinach) last and simmer for 1–2 minutes until wilted.
5. Serve
Serve hot with steamed rice and enjoy the classic tangy, hearty Filipino soup.
